Shoulder pads & sleeve heads - designed & made in-house
At WILDA.ECO, we believe that every element of our garments, no matter how small, should reflect our commitment to sustainability, transparency, and ingenuity. This ethos led us to identify a gap in the global market for natural, vegan shoulder pads. Rather than compromise our values, we decided to step in and fill this void ourselves.
Our solution was to design and handcraft our own shoulder pads right in our studio located in the Wilda district of Poznań, Poland. This initiative embodies our dedication to innovation and allows us to maintain complete control over the materials and methods used.
Each component of our shoulder pads has been thoughtfully chosen to minimise ecological impact without compromising quality or effectiveness. We’ve selected 100% European linen and Japanese organic bamboo as the primary materials and TENCEL™ lyocell for the stitching thread. The linen provides the necessary structural integrity, while the bamboo adds a layer of softness and breathability, enhancing the comfort of the wearer.
These shoulder pads are more than just functional elements; they represent our commitment to ethical practices woven into each stitch. They enhance the structure and fit of our Norrmalm blazer, subtly elevating the garment’s silhouette while remaining true to our sustainability pledge.
Recognising the universal need for sustainable tailoring solutions, we’ve made these shoulder pads available for separate purchase. Customers also have the option to include the sleeve heads, offering a comprehensive tailoring solution that aligns with conscious, sustainable fashion principles.
Embroidery - your personal touch
Within each garment, distinct embroideries blend artistry and sustainability, reflecting our attention to detail and commitment to responsible fashion.
The Norrmalm blazer showcases a duo of embroideries – one on the back of the collar, open to personalisation and the other inside at shoulder level, presenting our brand’s core values. The Södermalm trousers feature a singular embroidery on the rear left pocket that can also be personalised, tailoring your ensemble to your individual style.
Executed directly by our team in our studio in the historic Wilda district of Poznań, European Union (yes, that is why we are called WILDA.ECO), these intricate motifs reflect authenticity and precision. We use TENCEL™ lyocell thread, celebrated for its sustainable properties, aligning with our commitment to crafting distinctive, environmentally-conscious fashion.

TENCEL™ lyocell - vegan & biodegradable
TENCEL™ lyocell, a brand of plant-based lyocell fibre produced by LENZING AG, is our primary material for fabric, thread, and embroidery. It is renowned for its low environmental impact, sustainable production practices, and antibacterial qualities. Derived from renewable wood sources, mainly eucalyptus trees, this material is a testament to how industry can work harmoniously with nature, producing beautiful, high-quality materials without compromising our planet’s health.
TENCEL™ lyocell differs from most other fabrics made from wood fibre in two main ways. Firstly, TENCEL™ is made from responsibly sourced wood, while around 30% of rayon and viscose used in fashion is made from pulp sourced from endangered and ancient forests. LENZING AG ensures that the wood used in its production is derived from FSC® and PEFC™ certified responsible forestry. The company procures wood for pulp production from sustainably managed forests, primarily in Austria and other European countries. Lenzing also uses timber generated by thinning, ensuring that unsuitable wood finds a meaningful purpose in its production.
Secondly, it’s the chemical treatment stage. The traditional viscose process is chemically intensive, using harmful sodium hydroxide. TENCEL™ replaces it with the NMMO process. The solution of N-methyl morpholine N-oxide is non-toxic, more easily recoverable, and a closed-loop solvent system means almost no solvent is dumped into the ecosystem. Instead, it is recycled repeatedly to produce new fibres and minimise harmful waste. Lenzing AG says the solvent recovery rate for their version is an impressive 99%, and it also recycles 95% of the process water.

Thanks to its moisture management capabilities, it supports body temperature regulation, making it an ideal choice for clothing in all seasons.
Our fabric, made of TENCEL™ lyocell fibres, produced in Lenzing, Austria, is designed in Mid Jutland, Denmark and woven in Bursa, Türkiye, by a manufacturer who complies with various certifications and standards, including Recycled Content Standard (RCS), STANDARD 100 by Oeko-Tex, Lenzing, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001. The factory relies on wind energy for operations and is a founding partner in one of the largest cooperative wastewater treatment plants in Türkiye, so all wastewater discharged after dyeing & finishing is treated to remove any potentially environmentally harmful contaminants.
TENCEL™ lyocell thread
Our TENCEL™ lyocell thread, known for its stunning silky glow, is spun in Braga, Portugal, and carries the Oeko-Tex 100 and Lenzing certifications. Its hypoallergenic properties make it an excellent choice for those with sensitive skin or allergies.
This thread originates from TENCEL™ lyocell fibres, made in Lenzing, Austria, through an innovative closed-loop process that recovers and reuses up to 99.7% of the solvent and more than 95% of the water used in production. The production methods for TENCEL™ lyocell fibres are constantly improved to optimise resource use and minimise environmental impact. As a result, the carbon emissions and water usage associated with TENCEL™ fibres can be up to 50% less than those of generic lyocell and modal fibres.
To ensure optimal biodegradability, matching the TENCEL™ lyocell thread with compatible fabric and embroidery made from the same material is essential. When these components work harmoniously, they can help maximise the finished product’s sustainable benefits and lifespan.

TENCEL™ lyocell embroidery
Our suits feature intricate embroidery crafted by our team in Wilda, Poznań. We use TENCEL™ lyocell embroidery thread, made in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, that shares the same sustainable properties as our fabric and threads with Oeko-Tex 100 and Lenzing certifications. This premium thread is not only feather-soft and gentle on the skin but is also responsibly produced. The manufacturing process uses environmentally friendly technologies and raw materials, with wood as the thread’s main ingredient.
TENCEL™ is derived from eucalyptus trees cultivated in certified, sustainably managed forests. Lenzing AG primarily uses timber generated by thinning, a practice applied in sustainable forestry. Thus, the timber, which is unsuitable for high-grade products, such as furniture, finds a meaningful purpose. Lenzing AG also boasts that wood sources are as close as possible to pulp mills and are transported in an environmentally friendly manner. All wood suppliers, about 700, in all sourcing countries, are assessed once a year by a scoring system utilising FSC® controlled wood criteria.

Bemberg™ cupro lining - vegan silk
Bemberg™ cupro, a regenerated cellulose fibre, is an innovative material gaining recognition in the fashion industry. It’s crafted from 100% cotton linter – a by-product of the cottonseed oil manufacturing process, typically considered waste. This pre-consumer material is chemically transformed into a silky, luxurious fabric through a proprietary process involving reusable solvents such as ammonia and copper oxide.
Asahi Kasei has been the sole manufacturer of Bemberg™ cupro, producing it in Japan since 1931. The lining is woven in Lombardy, Italy, a region known for its rich textile manufacturing history and expertise. The resulting fabric shares many qualities with silk – smooth, drapes beautifully, and has a luxurious feel. However, unlike silk, Bemberg™ cupro is vegan, cruelty-free, and machine washable, making it a favourite among ethical and eco-conscious brands and consumers.
Besides its sustainability credentials, Bemberg™ cupro is Oeko-Tex® certified, ensuring the fabric is free from harmful substances and meets high human health safety standards. Moreover, Asahi Kasei has implemented a closed-loop system in its production process, which recovers and reuses solvents, minimises environmental impact, and achieves zero waste emissions. The company’s commitment to sustainability goes beyond its production practices – Asahi Kasei is actively involved in renewable energy initiatives. In 2012, they installed a biomass power generation system, and in March 2022, they replaced a coal power plant with a natural gas (LNG) power plant, reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 160,000 tons annually. In addition, Asahi Kasei owns nine hydroelectric power stations, which have been in operation since the company’s inception. By improving the efficiency of these generators, they aim to reduce CO2 emissions by an additional 11,000 tonnes annually.

Corozo buttons - vegan ivory
Our buttons are made of 100% natural and vegan material sourced from the nut of the Tagua tree, also known as corozo. This unique raw material, while technically a nut, is also the seed of the Tagua tree. Its scientific name, Phytelephas, draws from the Greek roots phyton – for plant – and elephas – for elephant, referencing both the size of the corozo seeds and their similarity to elephant ivory. With its white, smooth, and silky interior, corozo has often garnered the nickname “vegetable ivory”.
Tagua trees grow in disparate areas and cannot be cultivated by massive corporations. That aligns the corozo industry closely with native farmers who have deep knowledge of the rainforests and respect the tree’s basic necessities. According to CORPEI, the Commercial branch of the Foreign Relations Ministry, the Tagua industry supports 30,000 families in Ecuador alone.
The sustainable harvesting process involves using only mature nuts that have naturally fallen from the trees in the rainforests of Ecuador, ensuring responsible, eco-friendly practices. Unlike other nuts, such as almonds, which require shaking the tree, corozo nuts fall to the ground after hardening for about eight months.
The harvested nuts are then imported to Portugal for processing. The processed materials are sent to Kaunas, Lithuania, where buttons are manufactured specifically for us, matching the fabric colours of our clothing line perfectly and making them an integral part of the WILDA.ECO brand. Furthermore, our buttons are Oeko-Tex certified, guaranteeing their safety and longevity.
Corozo buttons are not only sustainable but also have unique features that set them apart. They resist scratches, high temperatures, and sweat, making them perfect for everyday wear. Moreover, their natural grain gives each button a unique look, adding a touch of elegance to our garments.

Natural elastic tape
Our elastic tape is a blend of 65% organic cotton and 35% natural rubber. The cotton component comes from Türkiye, grown organically and certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), ensuring minimal environmental impact. The natural rubber is sourced from plantations in Malaysia, where we’ve ensured that child labour is not used. This rubber carries the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification and complies with the REACH standards, guaranteeing it’s free from harmful substances and safe for human use.
The production of our elastic tape takes place in a family-run business in Lower Austria. This operation aligns with our ethos of supporting small businesses and promoting fair working conditions. The cotton and natural rubber are woven together to create a durable, high-quality elastic tape that offers comfort and flexibility in our Södermalm trousers. The design and handling happen lovingly in Berlin, Germany.
Each pair of Södermalm trousers, equipped with this elastic tape, is made-to-order and personalised for you, embodying style and ethics.
What else sets our elastic tape apart? While durable and robust, the polyester band used in many other brands is not natural and does not decompose quickly, if it does at all. In contrast, our cotton and natural rubber blend is durable and biodegradable, making it a more sustainable choice. Tests have shown that our tape biodegrades within 6-8 weeks in an optimal natural environment.
Moreover, our elastic tape conforms closely to the body, ensuring a comfortable fit. That is especially important in trousers, where ease of movement is vital.
At WILDA.ECO, we believe in transparency and ethics at every step of the process. From the organic fields in Turkey to the rubber plantations in Malaysia, from the family-run business in Lower Austria to the handling and design studio in Berlin, we’re committed to supporting and shaping a world where elegance, personalisation, and sustainability coexist.
Organic cotton labels
Each piece of garment deserves its unique identity. We take pride in creating our cotton sew-in labels at our studio in Wilda, Poznań, European Union. Each label is not just a tag but our commitment to personalisation and quality. We design and develop these labels ourselves, adding a touch of individuality to every garment.
Our cotton labels are created with the highest quality materials, providing durability and comfort. We understand that clothing is not just about fashion but also about how it feels on your skin. That’s why we choose 100% organic cotton for our labels, ensuring that they are soft and gentle against your skin.
What sets our labels apart is the personalised touch we add. Every label is personalised with the wearer’s name and unique serial number. Importantly, each label is prepared only once we have the customer’s data, and this crafting is carefully coordinated with other processes and components for the ordered piece of garment.
Our commitment to sustainability is mirrored in our choice of materials. The tape used for these labels is sourced from Occitanie, France. It originates, however, in Fukui, Japan, where it is woven incorporating Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified organic cotton from Texas, USA. Oversight of the handling and European distribution of this tape is managed by a member of the Japanese family who owns the production facility.
Our dedication to handcraft and in-house development ensures every label we create at WILDA.ECO is a testament to quality and sustainability. It reflects our commitment to making garments as unique and individual as those who wear them.
Recycled cotton interlining
After our in-house designed and handmade shoulder pads and sew-in labels, the most challenging component we faced was sourcing the interlining for our garments. This process required significant time and effort, reflecting our commitment to uphold high quality and sustainability standards.
Our interlining is made from 100% recycled cotton, a testament to our commitment to giving new life to materials that would otherwise go to waste. This cotton is salvaged from discarded fabric and garments, primarily sourced from Hungary, Romania, and Italy.
In addition to the recycled cotton, our interlining includes a plant-based adhesive made from shredded wood pulp. This innovative material further enhances the sustainability of our products, aligning with our commitment to eco-friendly practices.
The production of this interlining occurs in the Western Transdanubia region of Hungary under the careful supervision of our London-based supplier, which maintains an ongoing partnership with the Sustainability Research Institute (SRI) at the University of East London. SRI conducts tests on the products to ensure their sustainability credentials are continually improved.
We’ve chosen not to dye the interlining to uphold our ecological credentials further. It remains in its original off-white colour, ensuring no need to use bleach or any harmful dyes. This decision minimises our environmental impact and the interlining’s colour is inconspicuous except for some inside elements. It thus reinforces our commitment to sustainability while maintaining the aesthetic integrity of our garments.
The interlining boasts impressive technical specifications: it has an air permeability rating of 90-92, ensuring breathability. It demonstrates excellent resistance to alkaline and acid perspiration, with ratings of 4-5 for both. Importantly, it’s free from detectable decomposable carcinogenic arylamine dye and formaldehyde. With a pH value of 6.6, it’s near-neutral and gentle on the skin. It’s also odourless, adding to the wearer’s comfort.
Compliance with the ADKN, Global Recycle Standard (GRS), and Oeko-Tex certifications reinforces our commitment to sustainability and safety throughout production. When you choose our garments, you’re supporting an approach to fashion that values both the planet and the wearer.

Organic Japanese bamboo
Every component of our garments at WILDA.ECO reflects our commitment to sustainability and quality. That is particularly evident in the wadding used in our in-house designed shoulder pads and sleeve heads made from 100% organic bamboo.
The organic bamboo used in our wadding is grown and processed in Kyoto, Japan, underlining our commitment to sourcing raw materials close to the production site. This practice ensures the authenticity and quality of the bamboo while bolstering Japan’s stringent environmental conservation efforts.
Our organic bamboo wadding offers impressive technical specifications. It boasts an air permeability rating of 97-99, demonstrating superior breathability. Resistant to alkaline and acid perspiration (ratings of 4-5), it ensures durability. Importantly, it’s free from detectable decomposable carcinogenic arylamine dye and formaldehyde, safeguarding both the wearer and the environment. With a pH value of 6.7, it’s near-neutral and gentle on the skin, and its odourless nature enhances the wearer’s comfort.
Organic bamboo is sustainable due to its rapid growth rate – it is one of the fastest-growing plants on earth, allowing for frequent harvesting without replanting. It also sequesters high levels of carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, helping to combat climate change. Bamboo requires significantly less water than traditional materials like cotton and is grown without harmful pesticides or fertilisers. At the end of its lifecycle, bamboo is 100% biodegradable.
The bamboo wadding we use is rigorously tested in partnership with the Sustainability Research Institute at the University of East London and holds the ADKN Standard certificate conferred by the SRI. While maintaining an 85% closed-loop production, we continually strive to improve this ratio and further reduce our environmental impact.
This organic bamboo wadding is a critical element of our Norrmalm blazer and is also a part of our shoulder pads and sleeve heads, available for separate purchase in our store. When you incorporate these components in your garments, you’re not just opting for superior quality and comfort but also making a conscious choice for sustainability. Each purchase supports our mission at WILDA.ECO to redefine fashion with ecological responsibility at its core.
European linen
European linen, sourced predominantly from France and Poland, is integral to our commitment to responsible sourcing. This natural fibre comes from the flax plant, one of the oldest cultivated plants in the world, and requires minimal use of pesticides and energy-intensive treatments.
Our linen fabrics are produced in Lower Silesia, Poland, close to our company in Wilda, Poznań. This proximity allows us to support local economies and preserve responsible cultivation and processing methods.
Linen stands out for its breathability, softness, and comfort, particularly in hot weather. Beyond these qualities, it is also biodegradable and recyclable, making it an environmentally friendly material. Compared to other fabrics like cotton, linen uses less water and energy, which further enhances its sustainability.
Our shoulder pads incorporate two layers of this high-quality European linen, balancing sustainability, comfort, and style.
Importantly, our linen holds REACH and Oeko-Tex certifications. These confirm that our linen is produced without harmful chemicals that could affect human health or the environment, and every production stage is tested for harmful substances.
Choosing products made from our European linen means choosing quality and comfort as well as contributing to a sustainable and local future.
