Natural Elastic Tape

Natural elastic tape - certified, eco-friendly & ethical
Our elastic tape is a blend of 65% organic cotton and 35% natural rubber. The cotton component comes from Türkiye, grown organically and certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), ensuring minimal environmental impact. The natural rubber is sourced from plantations in Malaysia, where we’ve ensured that child labour is not used. This rubber carries the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification and complies with the REACH standards, guaranteeing it’s free from harmful substances and safe for human use.
The production of our elastic tape takes place in a family-run business in Lower Austria. This operation aligns with our ethos of supporting small businesses and promoting fair working conditions. The cotton and natural rubber are woven together to create a durable, high-quality elastic tape that offers comfort and flexibility in our Södermalm trousers. The design and handling happen lovingly in Berlin, Germany.
Each pair of Södermalm trousers, equipped with this elastic tape, is made-to-order and personalised for you, embodying style and ethics.
What else sets our elastic tape apart? While durable and robust, the polyester band used in many other brands is not natural and does not decompose quickly, if it does at all. In contrast, our cotton and natural rubber blend is durable and biodegradable, making it a more sustainable choice. Tests have shown that our tape biodegrades within 6-8 weeks in an optimal natural environment.
Moreover, our elastic tape conforms closely to the body, ensuring a comfortable fit. That is especially important in trousers, where ease of movement is vital.
At WILDA.ECO, we believe in transparency and ethics at every step of the process. From the organic fields in Turkey to the rubber plantations in Malaysia, from the family-run business in Lower Austria to the handling and design studio in Berlin, we’re committed to supporting and shaping a world where elegance, personalisation, and sustainability coexist.
