The organic bamboo used in our wadding is grown and processed in Kyoto, Japan, underlining our commitment to sourcing raw materials close to the production site. This practice ensures the authenticity and quality of the bamboo while bolstering Japan’s stringent environmental conservation efforts.
Our organic bamboo wadding offers impressive technical specifications. It boasts an air permeability rating of 97-99, demonstrating superior breathability. Resistant to alkaline and acid perspiration (ratings of 4-5), it ensures durability. Importantly, it’s free from detectable decomposable carcinogenic arylamine dye and formaldehyde, safeguarding both the wearer and the environment. With a pH value of 6.7, it’s near-neutral and gentle on the skin, and its odourless nature enhances the wearer’s comfort.
Organic bamboo is sustainable due to its rapid growth rate – it is one of the fastest-growing plants on earth, allowing for frequent harvesting without replanting. It also sequesters high levels of carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, helping to combat climate change. Bamboo requires significantly less water than traditional materials like cotton and is grown without harmful pesticides or fertilisers. At the end of its lifecycle, bamboo is 100% biodegradable.
The bamboo wadding we use is rigorously tested in partnership with the Sustainability Research Institute at the University of East London and holds the ADKN Standard certificate conferred by the SRI. While maintaining an 85% closed-loop production, we continually strive to improve this ratio and further reduce our environmental impact.
