TENCEL™ Lyocell
TENCEL™ lyocell - vegan & biodegradable
TENCEL™ lyocell, a brand of plant-based lyocell fibre produced by LENZING AG, is our primary material for fabric, thread, and embroidery. It is renowned for its low environmental impact, sustainable production practices, and antibacterial qualities. Derived from renewable wood sources, mainly eucalyptus trees, this material is a testament to how industry can work harmoniously with nature, producing beautiful, high-quality materials without compromising our planet’s health.
TENCEL™ lyocell differs from most other fabrics made from wood fibre in two main ways. Firstly, TENCEL™ is made from responsibly sourced wood, while around 30% of rayon and viscose used in fashion is made from pulp sourced from endangered and ancient forests. LENZING AG ensures that the wood used in its production is derived from FSC® and PEFC™ certified responsible forestry. The company procures wood for pulp production from sustainably managed forests, primarily in Austria and other European countries. Lenzing also uses timber generated by thinning, ensuring that unsuitable wood finds a meaningful purpose in its production.
Secondly, it’s the chemical treatment stage. The traditional viscose process is chemically intensive, using harmful sodium hydroxide. TENCEL™ replaces it with the NMMO process. The solution of N-methyl morpholine N-oxide is non-toxic, more easily recoverable, and a closed-loop solvent system means almost no solvent is dumped into the ecosystem. Instead, it is recycled repeatedly to produce new fibres and minimise harmful waste. Lenzing AG says the solvent recovery rate for their version is an impressive 99%, and it also recycles 95% of the process water.

TENCEL™ lyocell fabric
TENCEL™ lyocell fabric is an exceptional blend of quality, versatility, and performance. Its superior absorption characteristics, 50% more than cotton, enhance its breathability and reduce susceptibility to odours and bacterial growth. This fabric has a silky-smooth touch and a low tendency to wrinkle, attributes that contribute to its popularity in various garments. Beyond its softness, TENCEL™ lyocell is exceptionally gentle on the skin. Thanks to its moisture management capabilities, it supports body temperature regulation, making it an ideal choice for clothing in all seasons.
Our fabric, made of TENCEL™ lyocell fibres, produced in Lenzing, Austria, is designed in Mid Jutland, Denmark and woven in Bursa, Türkiye, by a manufacturer who complies with various certifications and standards, including Recycled Content Standard (RCS), STANDARD 100 by Oeko-Tex, Lenzing, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001. The factory relies on wind energy for operations and is a founding partner in one of the largest cooperative wastewater treatment plants in Türkiye, so all wastewater discharged after dyeing & finishing is treated to remove any potentially environmentally harmful contaminants.

TENCEL™ lyocell thread
Our TENCEL™ lyocell thread, known for its stunning silky glow, is spun in Braga, Portugal, and carries the Oeko-Tex 100 and Lenzing certifications. Its hypoallergenic properties make it an excellent choice for those with sensitive skin or allergies.
This thread originates from TENCEL™ lyocell fibres, made in Lenzing, Austria, through an innovative closed-loop process that recovers and reuses up to 99.7% of the solvent and more than 95% of the water used in production. The production methods for TENCEL™ lyocell fibres are constantly improved to optimise resource use and minimise environmental impact. As a result, the carbon emissions and water usage associated with TENCEL™ fibres can be up to 50% less than those of generic lyocell and modal fibres.
To ensure optimal biodegradability, matching the TENCEL™ lyocell thread with compatible fabric and embroidery made from the same material is essential. When these components work harmoniously, they can help maximise the finished product’s sustainable benefits and lifespan.

TENCEL™ lyocell embroidery
Our suits feature intricate embroidery crafted by our team in Wilda, Poznań. We use TENCEL™ lyocell embroidery thread, made in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, that shares the same sustainable properties as our fabric and threads with Oeko-Tex 100 and Lenzing certifications. This premium thread is not only feather-soft and gentle on the skin but is also responsibly produced. The manufacturing process uses environmentally friendly technologies and raw materials, with wood as the thread’s main ingredient.
TENCEL™ is derived from eucalyptus trees cultivated in certified, sustainably managed forests. Lenzing AG primarily uses timber generated by thinning, a practice applied in sustainable forestry. Thus, the timber, which is unsuitable for high-grade products, such as furniture, finds a meaningful purpose. Lenzing AG also boasts that wood sources are as close as possible to pulp mills and are transported in an environmentally friendly manner. All wood suppliers, about 700, in all sourcing countries, are assessed once a year by a scoring system utilising FSC® controlled wood criteria.
