Recycled Cotton Interlining
Recycled cotton interlining - innovative & eco-friendly
After our in-house designed and handmade shoulder pads and sew-in labels, the most challenging component we faced was sourcing the interlining for our garments. This process required significant time and effort, reflecting our commitment to uphold high quality and sustainability standards.
Our interlining is made from 100% recycled cotton, a testament to our commitment to giving new life to materials that would otherwise go to waste. This cotton is salvaged from discarded fabric and garments, primarily sourced from Hungary, Romania, and Italy.
In addition to the recycled cotton, our interlining includes a plant-based adhesive made from shredded wood pulp. This innovative material further enhances the sustainability of our products, aligning with our commitment to eco-friendly practices.
The production of this interlining occurs in the Western Transdanubia region of Hungary under the careful supervision of our London-based supplier, which maintains an ongoing partnership with the Sustainability Research Institute (SRI) at the University of East London. SRI conducts tests on the products to ensure their sustainability credentials are continually improved.
We’ve chosen not to dye the interlining to uphold our ecological credentials further. It remains in its original off-white colour, ensuring no need to use bleach or any harmful dyes. This decision minimises our environmental impact and the interlining’s colour is inconspicuous except for some inside elements. It thus reinforces our commitment to sustainability while maintaining the aesthetic integrity of our garments.
The interlining boasts impressive technical specifications: it has an air permeability rating of 90-92, ensuring breathability. It demonstrates excellent resistance to alkaline and acid perspiration, with ratings of 4-5 for both. Importantly, it’s free from detectable decomposable carcinogenic arylamine dye and formaldehyde. With a pH value of 6.6, it’s near-neutral and gentle on the skin. It’s also odourless, adding to the wearer’s comfort.
Compliance with the ADKN, Global Recycle Standard (GRS), and Oeko-Tex certifications reinforces our commitment to sustainability and safety throughout production. When you choose our garments, you’re supporting an approach to fashion that values both the planet and the wearer.
